Terms & Conditions
Last updated: October 1, 2026
Welcome to TruckRules. These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and TruckRules LLC (“TruckRules,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your access to and use of the TruckRules website and our online courses (together, the “Services”). Please read them carefully. By creating an account, purchasing a course, or otherwise using TruckRules, you agree to these Terms, along with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
We’ve written these Terms in plain language on purpose. If anything is unclear, contact us at info@truckrules.com.
Who we are. TruckRules provides online educational courses about FMCSA and motor carrier compliance. We are an independent training provider. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the FMCSA, the U.S. Department of Transportation, or any government agency. Completing a course is not a government certification, license, or credential.
Eligibility. You must be at least 18 years old to purchase a course or create an account. By using the Services, you confirm that you are 18 or older and able to enter into this agreement. Our courses cover United States federal and state trucking rules, and we list prices and take payment only in US dollars. We accept cards issued in the United States and its territories, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Jersey, Guernsey, and Gibraltar. We cannot currently accept cards issued in any other country, and a payment made with one is declined before you are charged. If you use the Services from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and you are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you. You may not use the Services if you are located in, or ordinarily resident in, a country or region subject to comprehensive United States sanctions, or if you appear on a United States government list of restricted parties.
Buying for someone else. If you buy a course for a company, or on behalf of anyone other than yourself, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms for that company or person, and these Terms bind both of you. Because an account is personal and cannot be transferred, the account belongs to the person who uses it. Set the account up in the name and email address of the person who will take the course.
Your account. To access courses, you create an account, either with your name, email, and a password, or by logging in with Google. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account. Your account is personal to you. You may not share your login, let others use your account, or transfer your account to anyone else. Notify us at info@truckrules.com if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
What you can access. When you enroll in a course, whether it is free or paid, you receive access to that course for your personal use. Unless we state otherwise, your access does not expire. You keep access to the courses in your account for as long as we offer the Services. A refund of your payment for a course, in full or in part, or a payment reversed by your card issuer, ends the access that payment gave you. We may, from time to time, update, improve, or change course content to keep it accurate and useful.
Payments. Course purchases are processed by our third-party payment processor. By purchasing, you agree to pay the listed price for the course. You’re responsible for providing accurate billing information and for any applicable taxes. Prices may change over time, but a change won’t affect a course you’ve already purchased.
Other companies involved. Two other companies take part when you use the Services. Payments are processed by our payment processor, and if you choose “Continue with Google” you sign in through Google. Your use of what they provide is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, including Google’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for their services, and nothing in these Terms changes any agreement you have with them. Our Privacy Policy describes what each of them receives.
Refunds. Refunds are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy. In short, you may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase if you have not yet started the course, and once you have started a course that purchase is no longer refundable under that rule. The Refund Policy also covers what happens when something is wrong with a course, when you are charged twice or buy the wrong course, and when we withdraw a course, and it explains that a refund ends the access that purchase paid for. Please see it for full details.
Acceptable use. The Services and all course content are for your personal, individual use only. You agree not to: share your account or login with others; copy, record, download, reproduce, distribute, sell, resell, or republish any course content; use the courses to create a competing product; or use the Services in any way that is unlawful, harmful, or that interferes with how the Services work for others.
Our content and intellectual property. All content on TruckRules, including course lessons, text, images, graphics, quizzes, and the design of the site, is owned by TruckRules or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Course reviews are the exception: you keep ownership of a review you write, as described under “Course reviews” below. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to access and view the course content you are enrolled in, for your own learning. This license does not give you any ownership of the content, and all rights not expressly granted are reserved.
Certificates of completion. When you complete a course, you may receive a Certificate of Completion showing that you finished that course. This certificate is proof that you completed a TruckRules course. It is not a government certification, license, or official credential of any kind. You are welcome to keep and share your Certificate of Completion (for example, with employers, brokers, or business partners) as you see fit.
Course reviews. If you finish a course, you can leave a review of it: a rating from 1 to 5 stars and a written comment of up to 1,000 characters. Your review appears on that course’s pages on our website with your first name, the first letter of your last name, a “Verified student” label, and the month and year you posted it. Please write about your own experience and leave out other people’s personal information. A review can’t include a web link, an email address, or a phone number. You can edit or delete your review at any time from your certificate page. We publish honest reviews whether they are positive or negative. We hide a review only if it is spam or appears to be fake, contains swearing, harassment, or other abusive content, contains someone’s personal information, is not about the course or our service, or was written by someone connected to TruckRules (our owner, someone who works for us, or a close relative of one of them), and we apply these rules the same way to every review. If we hide your review, it stays hidden if you change it, or if you delete it and post a new one, until we take another look and show it again. We never change the words of a review. We do not pay for reviews or give discounts, gifts, or anything else in exchange for one. You keep ownership of what you write. By posting a review, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to show it, with the name and label described above, on that course’s pages on our website for as long as it is posted. Nothing in these Terms limits your right to post an honest review of TruckRules anywhere.
Educational purpose; not legal advice. Our courses provide general educational information about FMCSA and motor carrier compliance, including, at times, general information about federal and state requirements. This information is for educational purposes only and is not legal advice for your specific situation. Rules and regulations change and can vary by state and circumstance. You are responsible for verifying current requirements and for your own compliance, and you should consult a qualified professional or the relevant government agency for advice about your specific situation. TruckRules is not responsible for any filings, deadlines, or compliance obligations that are yours to complete.
Service availability; “as is”. We work to keep the Services available and accurate, but we provide them on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the Services or the course content, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. Nothing in this section limits what we promise in our Refund Policy.
Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, TruckRules and its owners, employees, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or business, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Services or the course content. To the extent the law permits, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to the Services or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the course giving rise to the claim and one hundred dollars. If you are dissatisfied with the Services, your sole remedy is to stop using them (subject to the Refund Policy). Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes responsibility for fraud, for willful injury to a person or to property, or for a violation of law, whether willful or negligent, and nothing in them limits any liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.
Suspension and termination. We may suspend or terminate your account or access to the Services if you violate these Terms, share your account, misuse the Services, or engage in unlawful or harmful conduct. We may also modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services. If we terminate your account for a violation, you will not be entitled to a refund.
Closing your account. You can stop using the Services at any time. You cannot delete your account from the site, so to close it, email us at info@truckrules.com from the address on your account. Our Privacy Policy explains what we remove, what we keep, and why. Closing your account ends your access to the courses in it and to any certificate you earned, so download anything you want to keep first. Closing your account does not by itself entitle you to a refund; refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
Dispute resolution; arbitration. Please read this section carefully. It affects how disputes between you and TruckRules are resolved. If a dispute arises between you and TruckRules, we both agree to first try to resolve it informally by contacting each other. If we can’t resolve it within 60 days, you and TruckRules agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, rather than in court, administered under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, and governed by California law. Arbitration will take place in California or another location we both agree on (or, where required, may be conducted remotely). The American Arbitration Association publishes its rules and its current fees on its website, including the consumer arbitration rules and the consumer fee schedule.
Arbitration costs. We will ask the American Arbitration Association to administer any arbitration under its consumer arbitration rules. The association decides which of its rule sets applies, and our commitment on cost does not depend on that decision: whichever rules apply, TruckRules will pay the association’s filing fee, its case management fee, any hearing fee, and the arbitrator’s compensation, including the filing fee the association would otherwise charge you as the individual bringing the claim. Each of us pays our own attorneys’ fees and other costs, unless the arbitrator awards them or the law requires otherwise. If the association declines to administer an arbitration under these Terms and we cannot agree on another administrator, either of us may bring the dispute in court.
Small claims court. Either you or TruckRules may bring a dispute in small claims court instead of arbitration, as long as the claim is within that court’s jurisdiction and is brought on an individual basis. Whether a claim qualifies is decided by that court’s own rules. You do not have to complete the 60-day informal resolution step described above before filing in small claims court. Bringing a claim in small claims court does not change how any other dispute between you and TruckRules is resolved.
Class action waiver. You and TruckRules agree that any dispute will be brought only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative action. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person’s claims or preside over any form of class proceeding. This paragraph applies despite anything to the contrary elsewhere in these Terms, including the last sentence of “Entire agreement” below. The waiver in this paragraph is an essential part of our agreement to arbitrate: if it is found unenforceable as to a particular claim or request for relief, that claim or request will be decided in court instead and the rest of the dispute stays in arbitration, and these Terms never permit arbitration on a class, collective, or representative basis. Nothing in these Terms waives your right to seek public injunctive relief, and a request for public injunctive relief will be decided in court rather than in arbitration.
Your right to opt out of arbitration. You may opt out of the arbitration and class action waiver sections above by emailing us at info@truckrules.com within 30 days of first creating your account or first accepting these Terms, whichever is later, with the subject line “Arbitration Opt-Out” and your name and account email. Opting out will not affect any other part of these Terms. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in the courts described under “Governing law” below.
Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Except for disputes subject to arbitration, you agree that any legal action will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California.
Notices. We give you notice by email to the address on your account, or by posting it on the site. You agree to receive these notices electronically, and they count as notice in writing. Keep the email address on your account current, because a notice we send there counts as received. Send legal notices to us at info@truckrules.com, or by mail to TruckRules LLC, 138 N Brand Blvd, Suite 200, Unit #360, Glendale, CA 91203.
Survival. The sections that by their nature should outlast your account continue to apply after it is closed or terminated, including “Our content and intellectual property,” “Educational purpose; not legal advice,” “Service availability,” “Limitation of liability,” the dispute resolution sections and the sections that go with them, “Governing law,” and this section.
Other terms. We may transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, to another company as part of a merger, an acquisition, or a sale of our business. You may not transfer these Terms or your account to anyone. If we do not enforce part of these Terms right away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later. If you send us feedback or a suggestion about the Services, we may use it without restriction and without owing you anything for it. This does not apply to course reviews, which are covered under “Course reviews” above. You are never required to send us any feedback.
Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the effective date above. If we make significant changes, we’ll take reasonable steps to let you know. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Terms. A change does not apply to a dispute that either of us raised before the change took effect, and a change to the arbitration, class action waiver, or small claims sections applies only to disputes raised after its effective date.
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between you and TruckRules regarding the Services, and replace any earlier agreements. If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will remain in effect.
Contact us. If you have any questions about these Terms, email us at info@truckrules.com.
