This course covers leasing a truck onto an authorized carrier under the federal truth in leasing rules: what leasing on means, why the carrier takes control of and responsibility for the truck, and why you can lease a truck but never a USDOT number; the clauses every lease must contain, who pays which costs, and when the full rule does not apply; getting paid, including the 15-day rule, the rated freight bill and charge-backs; escrow, its interest and its return, and insurance bought through the carrier; how lease-purchase deals are usually built and what the Truck Leasing Task Force found and recommended; and keeping a lease file, where to take a problem, and ending a lease in order, with the steps for carriers that lease trucks on. Lease-purchase finance law and employee versus contractor status are not covered. The course is organized into six modules of short lessons, followed by a final quiz.
